Having just watched Mr. Gates finish with his CES 2008 Keynote, I’m sad to report that there is nothing really new and exciting that came from any of his announcements. There was some decent news regarding the Zune and the SYNC feature that is being used in cars, but for gamers; there really wasn’t anything new announced.
Slash did make a live appearance though…….for people who care.
With the keynote being finished, it also quills some rumors that Bill Gates would be releasing news on the rumored Xbox 360 Ultimate, the uber version of the popular console that would feature a HD-DVD drive built in.
Sure, this could come at a later date….but for now we can rest easily that nothing ground breaking was announced.
People keep asking me what I got for X-mas this year, so I figure I’ll post it here, why not? I haven’t had much to say lately otherwise.
Mandy was super kind to me this year, getting me Rock Band, Kane and Lynch, the Assassin’s Creed Limited Edition Art book, a Cat Launcher and the new Zune dock! The dock is really awesome as I’ve been sending my music and videos over the new wireless feature and can keep my Zune on the nightstand charged and ready for action in the morning.
Matt did his older brother proud and picked him up a 25 dollar gift card; while my sister and brother in law picked me up a sweet Halo long sleeved thermal t-shirt. My Mom and Dad got my some long sleeved shirts as well as some money. The gift card and cash went towards a guitar for Rock Band (Which is absolutely awesome.)
Overall I had a pretty good Christmas, even with the fact that I’m sick again and almost have absolutely no voice. I started losing my voice while at my parent’s house on Christmas Eve and I’ve been hoarse ever since. So my apologies to anyone who didn’t get a call from me on Christmas, I would have sounded like someone from a nursing home anyways. Plus Mandy’s really sick now which sucks extremely.
Ergo is due out early 2008 and that is all I can say about it right now.
Vacation for me begins the first of the New Year through the 8th of January 2008, those who would like to get together with me, let me know! It would be good to see everyone!

After an 8 year stint on my own private label, I’m happy to announce that I’ve been signed to Elektronik Sience, ran by my old mentor/friend Kevin! Kevin, otherwise known as XMK or one of the mighty tag team of electronic band Ground Blinder has informed me that his label is all about going back to the roots of what music is meant to be and that the time was right to begin a brand new music movement.
On what already looks like a talent filled roster over at the E.S. label, I’m happy to say I’m joining the ranks!
I get a lot of interesting customers when I work at my 1st favorite job Fedexkinkos, but the last two months have actually allowed me to meet someone that actually works directly in the gaming world and about two hours ago he actually handed me his business card and asked that I send a music demo directly to him so he can send it through the proper channels to get listened to.
This was my second meeting with the guy and I was fairly honored to know that he recognized me and asked me about how my music was going. I really didn’t do any kind of pestering on my side. The first time he came in I simply acknowledged that I knew what game studio he worked for and that I was interested in doing scoring for games.
So, I’ll send a demo and see what happens, if nothing happens, nothing happens. It’s an opportunity that can’t be looked over though and it anything I can gain some more experience in the field. I really wish I could send him all the tracks I did for Cannibal, but Gametap has that all tied up at the moment and I’m unclear what release rights I have for the tracks.
Which reminds me, I still need to get paid for those…but that’s the game industry for you, or so I hear.
With Ergo finally being finished I’ve tasked myself to the job of making sure things are underway to ensure a speedy and widespread release. First off, the CD will be available for purchase in a few ways. You can pick up the disk online at cafepress, lulu, and cdbaby or directly by placing an order with me. I think I’ve decided that anyone who orders directly through me will get some sort of surprise bonus gift with their order, but that is still to be determined.
I’ve sold a decent amount of CD’s with my last two albums and I know that handling all the ordering myself directly may be tough, but it’s a task I’m willing to try my hand at.
Digital distribution will be a whole new ball game for me and all my customers this time around. The album will be available for purchase digitally though Napster, Snocap, Itunes, Rhapsody and Zune Marketplace. The prices for individual songs and albums will vary of course depending on the service; but for those of you who use those services it will make it that much easier for you to pick up the new album. I may offer paid digital downloads in the future myself as well, but no guarantees on that.
Or course, this leads people to ask “Well, aren’t you going to put free mp3’s of the music on your site like the last few albums?” Sorry folks, while I will be putting up 30 second sample clips of each song, I will not be putting up the full tracks to download for free this time around. There has been enough demand for my music via CD, and traceable music plays via myspace that I feel that this is the proper decision to make. After all, the last four albums have been available to most people for free; yet I still had a large amount of people who bought CD’s. This proves to me that my music is worth something to someone. Is it the right decision? If it isn’t, things can change; but I firmly believe right now that it’s the right way to tackle things.
Will there be ways to get my album for free? Sure! People can buy it and upload it on file sharing servers, bit torrent and whatever else suits your fancy and share my music with people for free. If that’s your choice on how you would like to distribute and share what you bought, then that’s fine with me. After all, you paid for my content and now it is essentially yours; I won’t come hunt you down for free promotion.

Previously when I had to setup accounts, you had to email me your account details and pray that I would actually put it in. That didn’t go so well for me or other people.
