We are spending some time up in Lake Geneva and one of my absolute favorite places to visit is this candy shop/arcade that is located right off the corner of one of the many lake piers. I know there is a small amount of modern arcades across of America and there is a even smaller amount of arcades that have classic machines. This is one of those places! Its filled to the brim with old pin ball machines and arcade cabinents from the 70, 80 and 90’s. Classics like Joust, Pac-Man, Street Fighter and more fill its halls with old school goodness. I love arcades because it reminds me of my Mom and Dad taking me to the arcade when I was very little. The lights and even the smell of the electronics takes me back to those days where I use to pound on buildings in Rampage. It also reminds me that a few years later after that, I was pounding the hell out of people in Street Fighter 2; creating long lines of very angry, older teens who wanted to kick my ass because they spent about 15 dollars trying to beat me. Even more satisfying was looking down a few machines away and seeing my little brother do the exact same thing to people on the same game.
I love arcades. I only hope that in the future if I do have kids, they will still be around to show my children.
