SNES Power Pak Issue #1 (Resolved)

Author: unleadedlogic  //  Category: Uncategorized

This issue has been resolved. The reason the cart wouldn’t not boot after the reformat and replacement of the PowerPak directory is because the files on the site were not up to date yet. RetroZone replied to my email very quickly and informed me that they updated the site. After downloading, reformatting and reloading, we are up and running again! ISSUE RESOLVED!

This morning I had my first issue with the SNES Power Pak. At the moment I currently can not play games on it. Right now, the only thing I get when I turn it on is this:

untitled-1 My first order of business was to contact support at RetroZone, which I did so by email at: retrozone @ retrousb.com. Due to it being Thanksgiving Week, I doubt I will get a response till Monday, but we’ll see. Here’s the email I sent the explains the issue in detail:

Hi there,

Received my SNES Power Pak today, loaded roms on it with no issue…was playing with in 10 minutes. Loaded up Front Mission Gun Hazard this evening and got to the first point I could save. I went ahead and held down the reset button for 5 seconds so I could write the data to the battery. After telling it yes, the cart restarted with the following error:

untitled-1

Upon resetting, I received the same message. I plugged in the CF card to my pc card reader and discovered that the only directory that remained on the card was a GHZ directory, which I would assume was from Gun Hazard. I formatted the card and downloaded the powerpak directory again onto the card, but still receive the same message. The cart is recognizing when the card is not plugged in and when its plugged in, but even with the proper directory on there, it still gives the config error. I looked in the manual and didn’t see anything about this error message. What needs to be done to get this going again?

So, I may be missing something very obvious or I may have to send it back for a new unit. We’ll see. I’ll update you guys as the info comes.

Please note: This was not posted in any negative fashion towards RetroZone or the makers of this cart, its simply to provide a record of the issues I ran into and how they were handled. Also, the reader should note that at the time this was posted, the cart just hit the market and as one can expect there can always be bugs lurking that were not discovered during testing. I firmly believe that this issue will be fixed or the cart replaced as RetroZone has a great reputation.
